Dailey Method Classes

Back in September, I got a Juice in the City Deal (similar site to Groupon) for half off two Dailey Method classes. I decided to try it out. The Dailey Method is a combination of ballet barre work and core conditioning.

Day 1 I show up. Get the lowdown on how the class works and get started. We were supposed to grab two sets of weights. They told me to get the 2 lb and 3lb set. I was shocked to think of using such light weights. But 15 min into the class I realized that it was more than enough weight. My arms and shoulders were burning. Then we went to legs/butt...whoooweee that was tough. I have very tight hamstrings always have and the teacher had to modify some of the exercises for me, but I still got an intense workout.

My only issue was after the class, I had some hamstring soreness. I think I may have twinged my hamstring injury from years ago. But other than that it was an amazing workout. I attended the class one more time and had just as great of a workout. I'm trying to see if/how I can incorporate this class into my workouts. This may have to be my "winter training" since come summer I'm usually doing a lot more running.

I've created a monster

Well, not a monster but a following.

A coworker of mine said her doc recommended more workouts. So in order to fit in a workout/work and school we decided to do lunchtime workouts. I had already been running 1-2x a week so she joined me on those runs, slowly working up her mileage. Well another coworker said she'd join us but walk instead. So now it's been an encouraging thing, we all try to go Tues and Thurs at lunch, if one of us can't make it we make sure the others go. And our group has increased in size, it now can range from 3-6 people going.

And then I found a bootcamp workout in Women's Health Magazine, you can see the details here.
We run 0.35 miles to a local park near our work, then do the workout and run 0.35 miles back. 3 of us do the workout, now grown to 4 (parttime).
The workout: Do each move in Round 1 30 sec each. Rest 10 sec between each. 1 min rest between Round 1 and 2 or 2 and 1. Do twice.

Round 1:
Squats
Pushups
Bicycle Cruches
Jumping Jacks
Regular crunches

Round 2:
Walking Lunges
Squat Jumps
Tricep dips
Standing High Knees
Mountain Climbers

We do this workout once a week and boy does it kick my butt. The first time I did it my chest hurt from pushups. Last week it was my quads. We figure we'll do this one for a month and then change it up for next month. Switch out some exercised to change things up a little.

My Workout Schedule thus far

It being winter (dark earlier and wet), and being pregnant, and having a 2 year old, my workout shedule goes as follows.
Spinning (I teach) 2x a week 1 hour each
Running 2-3x a week, 30 min each.
Swimming 1x per week, 45 min.
Not bad, I'm starting to miss my Saturday long runs. I miss running with my running partner for an hour/ hour and a half chatting it up early Sat mornings. So do I really miss the running or the company?

Running talley 2009.
31.91 miles down, 268.09 to go.

Awesome Prenatal Weight Training

I'm so not a workout video person! BUT, I found a really good weight training video to do while pregnant. This Gabrielle Reece video was awesome. It was like having a personal trainer in your room as you workout. There is no cardio, just lifting. It does take a lot of props, resistance bands, dumbells, chair and balance ball but it is great! I started at 5 months but it would have been nice to have known about it earlier. And it has postnatal training that focuses on abs! Each month is a 15 min workout, I love that I can fit in a quick weight training.
